Born Green Generation partner promotes reprocessing to reduce single-use plastics
Single-use medical devices have become a fixture in healthcare, but their environmental impact is hard to ignore. Denmark is taking a pioneering step to tackle this challenge by legalising the reprocessing of single-use devices starting in 2025—a decision rooted in years of advocacy and collaboration, including efforts by Aarhus University Hospital and the Born Green Generation initiative.
Reprocessing offers a safe, cost-effective way to reduce plastic waste, cut emissions, and strengthen supply chains. But this is just the beginning. Achieving truly sustainable healthcare requires systemic change, from rethinking device design to fostering circular practices.
